Grilled Chicken with Herbs.
I am fortunate that both myself & my children love all types of foods. I imagine they like them because from the time they were all very small I presented a variety of foods to them at meal time. Everyone is different but I preferred not to start feeding any of my children junk foods , such as fast food burgers, French fries, potato chips and so on. I also think if you make negative remarks in front of children about a food you may think is disgusting , then they will also think it is without ever even tasting it. I always gave my toddlers fresh veggies & fruits & yogurt, long before yogurt was ever on the market as a popular item. My children are older now except for my 9 year old twins & all of them seem to like a variety of foods. This evening I made chicken breast on my griddle using only cooking spray (0 Calories) I took the fresh boneless skinless breast & sliced them in half making the proper serving size (should be no larger than the palm of your hand) I put them into a bowl and added some herbs and pepper. You can use any herb that you prefer. Then place them on the hot griddle and cook just until they turn white inside. Over cooking chicken is another big problem especially chicken breast as it tends to become very tough or dry, so cook just until done inside & you will find it much more moist & appealing. I purchased pre-made lobster ravioli that is also very quick & easy but also healthy if served in the correct portion amount. Once I finished cooking and draining the ravioli I placed 1 tablespoon of olive oil into a bowl along with 1 Tablespoon each of basil pesto & sundried tomato pesto. I prefer the pesto rather than sauce which is going to saturate the pasta leaving you tasting the sauce only. Top with a small amount of shredded cheese. Baby greens are always a healthy way to go and I love them plain on the side. If you cannot do them plain then you could add a little basil or lemon pepper or something like that. We have become so accustomed to covering & smothering the item that we are actually eating that we don't know what the actual item even really tastes like, but I can assure you that once you start eating healthier you will no longer want the other extras.
